It was a bad trade not because Tobias Myers became great, at least not yet, but the Rays traded Myers for Caminero who was the #2 prospect at one point last year.
I checked the team ERA was 3.30, which was 6th, but only 0.05 out of 3rd. Boston is somehow in 1st, which I can't see lasting. Best rotation since 83 for me, just because of the depth.
I'm a fan of Handley's too, just somebody I follow. I've always been a fan of backup catchers. It's got to be one of the hardest, jobs in the majors. How would you rank Handley's ability to block potential wild pitches? It sounds like maybe his arm isn't the best. I was thinking he might end up the O's backup catcher at some point, but looks like he'll likely be squeezed between McCann and Basallo. I hope he finds a spot somewhere.
I mean, we had 4 20 game winners. That will never happen again. That’s got to be the best rotation the Orioles have ever fielded. Our current crop is really dang good however.
Only 1 for 5 tonight with 2 strikeouts but 2 runs scored.
I think he is on the upswing. Maybe by August or Sept he might have enough seasoning to be able to come up and help the big club.
Pro. Like I’ve been saying… he’s a reliever and he’s been pitching a baseball his whole life. So it could be some simple mechanical fix or pitch grip. He’s throwing 94. That’s not changing. He’s going to have to continue to find ways to get guys out and adjust to the league.
He might not consume all the 60 saves our bullpen is on pace to get, but at $13 million he can still be on our A side of the pen. Somewhere in the 7-9 inning range.
